鄉土文獻資源數位化：
保存鄉土文獻及掌握鄉土文獻相關書目，是本館推動數位化的核心作業之一。本館以成熟之數位化經驗及技術規範，與相關單位協力進行有關臺灣鄉土文獻數位化計畫，期達到有效保存相關之地方文獻資料、提供鄉土教學素材、縮短城鄕數位落差之效益。

臺灣重要圖書文獻數位化：
為加強圖書文獻的保存、典藏及利用，經由數位化將豐富之館藏得以永續保存，並俾利於應用，並提高研究與生產之成果及品質。

臺灣出版期刊資源數位化：
期刊報紙是傳遞一般訊息、發表研究發展之成果最快速、最多方位的媒介，也是記錄當代財經、政治、人文、社會、科技等活動最重要的媒體，被使用率極高，但查閱不便，更不易保存，因此極需要將此類資料數位化，以利持續保存，並提高其被應用之便利性及效益性。

Digitizing Taiwan’s local documents: Preserving local documents and managing their relevant bibliographical materials is one of the central goals of NCL’s digitization project. Making use of its experience and maturity in the areas of digitization and application of technological standards, NCL cooperates with and assists other organizations to implement projects that relevant to digitizing Taiwan’s local documents. NCL aims to effectively preserve materials related to Taiwan’s local documents, provide educational materials pertinent to localities, and reduce the urban-rural digital divide.

Digitization of Taiwan’s important books and documents: In the interest of facilitating the preservation, archiving, and utilization of library documents, NCL’s digitization project has afforded eternal preservation to numerous archives. The archives are now also easier to use, and will enhance productivity as well as quality of research.

Digitizing Taiwan’s Periodicals: Periodicals and newspapers are the most rapid and versatile media for transmitting general information and research results, and are also the most vital sources of information on events in finance, politics, the humanities, social studies, technology, and other fields. Periodicals have an extremely high rate of use, but are not convenient to search for, nor are they easy to preserve. NCL digitizes periodicals in order to aid their continued preservation, increase their ease of use, and enhance their overall effectiveness.

本館是本國政府出版品法定完整寄存圖書館，蒐藏有全國種類最多樣、內容最完整、資料最豐富的政府公報、統計資料、施政計畫書等政府出版品；有鑒於前述資料是民主政治體制中獲取公共資訊最重要的管道，是民眾了解政府法規命令、施政運作、行政績效的最佳媒介。欲落實政府資訊公開、透明化，需積極創造「電子化政府」，是以自98年度起新增此子計畫，擬將此數位成果透過網路傳輸提供便捷服務，以有效推動政府資訊數位化，暢通公眾近用政府資訊的管道，滿足民眾知的需求，並提高國家競爭優勢。

NCL is the legal deposit library designated as repository for all government publications in Taiwan, and thus carries Taiwan’s most comprehensive and diverse collection of government gazette, statistics, policy plans and other such publications. Under a democratic system of government, these publications are a principal means to obtaining public information, and constitute an important medium by which the public can understand legal regulations, policy, and administrative achievements. In order to actualize the principles of government transparency and free access to information, it is necessary to create “E-government.” Thus, from 2009 on, NCL will be implementing this sub-project, offering the digitized documents for download, providing a fast and convenient service for public access online. The project hopes to effectively implement the digitization of government information, clear an open channel for the use of public data, satisfy the public’s demand for knowledge, and raise the nation’s competitive advantage.
